Barry Potteiger

Barry Potteiger was born and raised in Rutherford, an eastern suburb of Harrisburg PA. During his childhood years he
was an avid trout fisherman with his father and brothers. As a teenager, he found a love for the Susquehanna River and
fished it every time he could. At first it was for catfish and walleyes but later in his teenage years, he learned about
smallmouth bass and became passionate chasing them in the area around Middletown and Highspire.
Barry is a retired business manager who now spends his time fishing on the Susquehanna River in the winter, spring and
summer months chasing Smallmouth bass. For the past 40 years, Barry has been an accomplished bass tournament
angler in the Eastern half of the United States and especially on the Susquehanna River. He has earned numerous first
place finishes and in 2015 was the PA Bass Federation District 3 Angler of the Year.
Barry graduated from Penn State University and met his wife Judy at one of his first jobs. They have resided in
Middletown PA for 34 years and together they have archery hunted and fished across the Eastern part of the U.S. and
Canada. They have a true passion for archery hunting; in the fall they spend as much time as possible at their hunting
club in Pike County Illinois. Barry and Judy have one son who is also a passionate archery hunter and is an Engineer in
private industry.
